Deadline for SETC Screening Auditions - TODAY

Today (November 4) is the final day to register for the SETC Screening Auditions in North Carolina! 

All college students and pre-professional actors must attend these screening auditions, in order to qualify to attend SETC's Spring Professional Auditions in March.

2009 NCTC High School Play Festival - Registration Now Open!

The 2009 NCTC Regional High School Play Festival will take place on October 30/31 and November 6/7.

Free Night of Theater in North Carolina

The North Carolina Theatre Conference is pleased to announce that we will once again partner with Theatre Communications Group (TCG) on the Free Night of Theater program.  This year, the program taking place all across the nation and you can be a part of it!  If your Community Theatre, Professional Theatre, or University Theatre Program is a current member of NCTC, you are eligible to participate in the NC Free Night program.
 
Free Night of Theater is an audience development tool created by TCG and managed by partners across the country (including NCTC).  The goal of Free Night is to attract new patrons to your theatre.  To participate, organizations set aside free tickets for performances on or around October 15, 2009.  Ticketing is handled by the national Free Night website.  NCTC will work with you to plan and promote your event and will assist with best practices to retain these new patrons.  Management of this program is a free service to NCTC members.
 
NCTC is now compiling a list of all participating companies.  If you would like to participate in FNOT 2009, please email angelahays@nctc.org no later than September 11, 2009.

TWO IMPORTANT FRIDAY DEADLINES!

OK, if you work in theatre in North Carolina and you aren't a dues paying member of NCTC then you are missing out. NCTC is your voice and the only way to make sure that NCTC's voice is loud and clear is for you to become a member, especially in this time of decreased funding and tight budgets.

Also, you've just got to come to the NCTC Producing Theatre Gathering. I can't tell you how much fun you will have! The networking opportunties are amazing! The sessions are going to be amazing! Secretary of Cultural Resources Linda Carlisle will be there and she will be amazing.

NCTC Producing Theatre Gathering - Registration Closes July 31

Registration for the 2009 NCTC Producing Theatre Gathering closes at 5pm on Friday.  We hope you will join the more than 50 theatre artists and administrators that have already registered!  Click here for registration and more information.

 

The Fine Print - all registration forms must be received by 5pm on Friday, July 31.  Payments may be made online, submitted by mail, or at the door.  You may also choose to take advantage of our Register Now, Pay Later offer.  To do so, simply email your registration form to angelahays@nctc.org and tell me when you might be able to submit payment.  Any member may take advantage of this offer, provided that your membership dues are current and your gathering payment is received no later than April 1, 2010

NCTC Membership - Discount Rates End July 31

NCTC is offering a 10% discount on membership dues, if you renew and pay by 5pm on Friday.  (Memberships run from July 1 – June 30).  Please take this opportunity to renew your membership and continue your commitment to NCTC.

For Colleges/Universities – More than 100 High School Seniors from across North Carolina will audition for you and other NC College programs in a combined audition setting.

An Important Note About the SETC Screening Auditions

If you have students attending the SETC Screening auditions, and your students need to request a special time (due to a performance conflict), please email a list of these students to David Schram at nctc@greensborocollege.edu, so that he does not need to verify each request individually.

Another Recruitment Opportunity

Any college/university that is a member of NCTC, may purchase an advertisement in the program of the 2008 NCTC State High School Play Festival.  The festival will feature more than 300 of the state’s most promising young artists (many of whom may not attend the Unified College Auditions).

The program pages are 8 1/2" x 11" - black and white.  Ad rates are $150 for a 1/2 page and $250 for a full page.

If you are interested in placing an ad, please email angelahays@nctc.org, and specify what size. We will hold a spot for you and forward Ad dimensions and an invoice.

NCTC!

What a great day! There are about 60 people from theatres all across the state at the conference. Lot's of new people and it seems like everyone is having a good time. Some highlights:

Last night we started with a dinner at one of the NCTC board member's house. It was a great event. Many people arrived last night and there were some great conversations. It set such a great tone for the conference.

Today started out will with some great opening remarks by Robert Wildman and Angie Hays. The University of North Carolina School of the Arts has been a wonderful host and their campus is beautiful .

We've had a great series of sessions. Now, I want to write more, but it's 1:00am and we have a full day tomorrow. Then I'm on vacation!

I'm going to try to get some free wi-fi and I'll give the full update, but I'm tired!

The NCTC Producing Theatre Gathering 2008!

Registration is open!

This is a really important event and I hope everyone will attend. NCTC has put together a very nice agenda.

The theatre community could gain a great deal by gathering and discussing the state of theatre in North Carolina. Please try to attend or at least send a representative from your organization!
