SUMMER YOUTH CONSERVATORY
The Triangle’s premier actor training program for students ages 10 – 18, the Summer Youth Conservatory, created in partnership with The ArtsCenter, offers young people the opportunity train and rehearse under the guidance of professional guest artists and resident company members. Students spend five weeks learning the fundamentals of acting, singing and dancing, and hone their skills as they prepare to perform in a fully mounted, professionally realized production on PlayMakers’ Paul Green Theatre stage.
THEATRETECH
This unique program provides high school juniors and seniors, and recent high school graduates, with the chance to learn about all aspects of technical theatre. Students take classes with PlayMakers’ professional staff in Costumes, Scenic Design/Stage Craft, Lighting, and Stage Management. Students are also given the opportunity to apprentice in the field of their choice during the five weeks of the Conservatory.
ABOUT DROOD
This wildly warm-hearted theatrical experience kicks off when the Music Hall Royale (a hilarious Victorian musical troupe) puts on its rendition of an unfinished Dickens mystery. The story tells the tale of John Jasper, a Jekyll-and-Hyde choirmaster who is quite madly in love with his music student, the fair Miss Rosa Bud. Miss Bud is, in turn, engaged to Jasper's nephew, young Edwin Drood. Edwin Drood disappears mysteriously one stormy Christmas Eve – has he been murdered? If so, then whodunnit? This play-within-a-play draws the audience towards a surprisingly refreshing twist, where the audience votes for their favorite solution as prelude to the most unusual and hilarious finale!
PAST PRODUCTIONS
