Yay! There's a new Arts blog in town!
The Upstager
All the world's an upstage.
"The Upstager is a blog by some of the folks at Manbites Dog Theater in Durham N.C., talking about things we find interesting, especially in the arts and in our hometown."
Check them out. They already have some cool posts up including a bunch about Mike Daisey! Welcome to the interwebs!

Hello.
My name is Molly Rice and I teach Theatre and Journalism at St. Stephens High School in Hickory, NC. We recently entered the Interwrite Classroom Makeover music video contest and were chosen as a finalist! We are the only school to represent NC! We have the chance to win $30,000 worth of eInstruction technology for our classroom.
As theatre people, you understand the time and heartache it takes to beg, borrow, and steal for your theatre. At my high school, we don't even have an auditorium or any theatre space! For the last two years, my students and I competed in the NCTC One-Act HS Play Festival and have won at the Regional level both years bringing home "Most Distinguished Play"; "Excellence in Directing"; and "Excellence in Acting". Both years at the State level, we won an award. Last year, for "Best Sound Design" and this year "Best Choreography". We work hard but do it all without money, a theatre, or even the basics to offer better education through technology in the classroom.
The arts are always overlooked when handing out technology! I only have one working computer in my classroom (my classroom was converted from a tractor shed). My students and I worked very hard with the limited resources to create our video. Could you help us spread the word and get supporters to vote for us? It only takes less than 5 minutes of online time. All you have to do is sign up, view, vote, and leave a brief comment. We are currently being beat by another state in votes and really want NC to win. Voting ends at noon Dec. 4th
Here is a direct link to our video: http://eimakeover09.shycast.com/submission/show/402
or www.eimakeover.com and look for the entry "The Tractor Shed Zone"
Thanks so much for helping us to win much-needed technology for our school.
If you would like to further support our theatre program, we are currently doing a fundraiser through Century Resources and you can purchase their products with a percentage coming back to the tractor shed theatre. Please visit
www.helpourgroup.com and look for St. Stephens High School in Hickory NC to order online some amazing chocolate and other items for the holidays.
Keep creating and inspiring,
Molly Rice
